Equitem Horse Riding Journal

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

1. Overview

Equitem is a horse riding journal that stores app data on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and have enabled iCloud for Equitem, the app also syncs records and photos to your private Apple iCloud database so you can use them on your other Apple devices. The app does not require an Equitem account.

Equitem does not operate its own app servers, use advertising or analytics services, or track users across apps and websites. Optional training routine suggestions use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models when available. Equitem does not send your prompts or app records to an external AI provider.

2. Information Equitem stores

Depending on the features you use and the information you enter, Equitem stores:

  • Rider profile: name, email address if provided, experience level, riding disciplines, biography, location, and profile photo.
  • App identifier: a randomly generated identifier used to associate your profile and app records across devices through iCloud.
  • Horse profiles: horse name, breed, age, sex, height, notes, and photos.
  • Training and activity records: session dates, activity type, duration, intensity, goals, reflections, ratings, equipment used, and any location name or coordinates you choose to record.
  • Horse health and care records: horse health incident descriptions, treatment details, severity, care tasks, appointments, and related photos. These are records about horses, not human medical records.
  • Nutrition and equipment records: feeding plans and logs, and details or photos of rider and horse equipment.
  • Calendar and training plans: events and routines you create. Calendar events are shared with your device calendar only if you grant calendar access and use that feature.
  • Photos and media: images you choose to attach to profiles or records.
  • App preferences: settings such as theme and onboarding progress.

3. How information is used

Equitem uses this information to provide the app’s features: display profiles and records, create schedules and reminders, calculate training summaries and insights, and sync your app data across your own devices when iCloud is enabled.

When you request voice dictation, the app captures audio for Apple Speech Recognition and displays the resulting transcription in the text field. Apple’s handling of speech data is governed by Apple’s terms and your device settings. Equitem does not use the recording as an analytics or advertising signal.

When Apple’s on-device Foundation Models are available and you choose a routine suggestion feature that uses them, processing takes place on your device. Otherwise, Equitem uses its built-in rule-based suggestion method.

4. iCloud and Apple services

When iCloud is enabled for Equitem, app records are synced through Apple’s CloudKit service to your private iCloud database. This includes profile and horse information, records, and attached photos. The data is associated with your Apple ID within Apple’s iCloud service. Equitem does not operate the CloudKit servers and cannot access your private iCloud database through a developer account. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your iCloud settings.

Equitem keeps local copies so you can use the app when iCloud is unavailable. Sync can be paused or unavailable if you are signed out of iCloud, have disabled iCloud for Equitem, or do not have a network connection. Calendar, location, camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, and notification access are used only for the related features and are subject to your device permissions and Apple service settings.

5. Bug reports and support email

If you use Report a Bug, Equitem opens your email app with a draft addressed to support@equitem.app. The draft can include the category and description you enter, app version and build, device model, iOS version, and device locale. You can review and edit the draft before choosing whether to send it. Equitem does not send the report automatically.

If you send the email, Equitem receives the information in that message and uses it to respond to you and investigate the issue. Your email provider may also process the message under its own terms. For questions about or requests concerning a support email, contact support@equitem.app.

6. Sharing

Equitem does not sell your information or share it for advertising. The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Data is processed by Apple services when you use iCloud, Calendar, Location, Speech Recognition, or on-device Foundation Models, subject to your settings and Apple’s terms. Support information is shared with Equitem only when you choose to send a support email.

7. Storage, retention, and deletion

App data is stored locally using Apple’s SwiftData framework. Photos and media are stored in the app’s local storage; when iCloud sync is enabled, they are also synced to your private CloudKit database.

You can view and edit your information in Equitem. You can delete individual records or use Reset All Data in Settings to remove Equitem records and photos from the device. When iCloud is available, those deletions sync to your other devices. A device that is offline or has iCloud disabled may retain its copy until it reconnects and syncs or you remove the copy there.

Deleting Equitem removes its local app data from that device, but does not necessarily delete copies already synced to iCloud or stored on your other devices. You can manage Equitem’s iCloud storage from your Apple device’s iCloud settings. Support emails are retained in the support mailbox as needed to respond to and manage the request; contact us at support@equitem.app to ask about a support email.

8. Your choices and permissions

You can control access to the camera, photos, calendar, location, microphone, speech recognition, notifications, and iCloud through Equitem’s features and your device settings. You can use the app without granting optional permissions, though the related features may be unavailable. Turning off iCloud for Equitem stops future syncing while it is disabled; it does not by itself remove copies already stored in iCloud.

9. Children’s privacy

Equitem is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Equitem, contact support@equitem.app so we can help address the request. A parent or guardian can also use Reset All Data on the device and manage Equitem’s iCloud data through Apple’s iCloud settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently updated. We will make the current policy available on this page and in the app.
